Pol-Rail Srl, a company created by the Ferrovie dello Stato Group and Polish Railways (PKP) handles rail traffic between the two countries and, more in general, in Eastern Europe.
The widespread penetration throughout Poland and a network with its own facilities in other countries (Romania, Russia, Byelorussia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria) allow Pol-Rail to provide customers with a complete logistics service.
The company also calls for the cooperation of its following subsidiaries:
- Hungaro Rail in Budapest (Hungary), in partnership with Austrian Railways and Hungarian Railways, is the major rail shipping company in Hungary ;
- Rom Rail in Bucharest (Romania), with a 58% stake, guarantees a valid market partner for transport to/from Romania, and also in transit for Moldova, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey;
- An operational company has also been set up in Poland, Rail Cargo Service in Wroclaw, dealing with the organisation of the reloading of the Italian wagons in Poland and due to return to Italy.
In 2007, Pol-Rail started its own Hub in Cervignano del Friuli, for the management of block trains directed to Poland, Romania, and Greece, offering a series of storage services coordinated by its own local network.
