Our Policy for quality, environment, health and safety


Customer and market orientation involves an adequate commercial and marketing organisation, but above all the organisational and management capacity to provide services which guarantee customer satisfaction.

The production processes must therefore be able to “listen to customers”, as well as being constantly controlled through a system of rules and procedures, checking/monitoring and applying the necessary measures for a constantly improvement.
In order to do this, since 2002 the Cargo Division of Trenitalia has developed and employed a Quality Management System in compliance with the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 9001 international standard.

Compliance with requirements imposed by the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 standard was certified by SGS (SYSTEM AND SERVICES CERTIFICATION) , an international certification company that carries out half-yearly visits to verify continued compliance of Trenitalia Cargo’s Quality Management System to the requirements defined by the above-mentioned international standard.

Following a detailed plan that includes half-yearly verifications, the organizational target area of the QMS is progressively being expanded to the different processes in which Trenitalia Cargo carries out its activities, in order to achieve their full completion as soon as possible.
The certification granted by SGS concerns a Quality Management System that covers the fundamental processes of the supply chain that constitutes the framework of the combined activities of Trenitalia Cargo, governing the product ion and supply of freight rail transport services to clients; (the main phases are: sales, service planning, timetable scheduling, train operation services, rolling stock, maintenance, wagon management, freight yard management, and customer service).

The model developed and adopted by the Cargo Division of Trenitalia al lows for both broadening the organizational target area and expanding/integrating it with other international benchmark standards of different Management Systems, such as: ISO 14001 (environment); OHSAS 18001 (occupational health and safety); and SA 8000 (social accountability).
